David Greig 2025
Here is the drawsheet, this post could be a useful place to organise matches.
David Greig Cup 2025 Rules:
1. The Westgate and Birchington General Competition Conditions shall apply.
2. The format is singles match play over 18 holes. Matches that are level after 18 holes are to continue on a sudden death basis. Strokes continue to be taken as per the Stroke Index. Once play has begun, if the match then has to be abandoned due to course closure, and no further play can take place on the day, the result should be determined by the state of the matches when play was suspended, providing a minimum of 9 holes has been completed by all matches. If a minimum of 9 holes have not been completed then the players should arrange another date, within the time allowed.
3. Handicap Allowance.
Maximum Handicap Index of 24.0 at close of entries.
FULL DIFFERENCE between Course Handicaps on the day of the match calculated in accordance with the Rules of Handicapping published by the R&A and the course being played.
Evidence of WHS Handicap Index to be demonstrated if requested, on the day via the app on their mobile phone or otherwise before the match commences.
Players who have a Handicap Index of more than 24, may enter but will be restricted to playing off 24 for the match.
Entry is restricted to members who have a fully developed WHS handicap (at least 20 scores on their record). Amongst these 20 scores there should be a minimum of 3 competition scores in the 12 months preceding the closing date for entries.
4. When the draw is posted, it will specify a 'play by' date for each round. Each round must be completed by the specified date.
The first named player is responsible for making contact at least 2 weeks prior to the 'play by' date and offering his opponent at least three dates (one of which must be a weekend date) for the match to be played.
Both players are to record a contact number under their name on the draw sheet.
If the players fail to arrange the match, the match will be scratched and both excluded from the competition and the following years competition (no refunds will be made).
5. Any disputes must be referred immediately after the Match, via the Club Secretary to the Competition Committee - its decision shall be final.
6. The Winning Player is to endorse the draw sheet as soon as possible following the conclusion of the match.
7. All matches to be played from the white tees (in the absence of white tees play will be from the white marker blocks).
8. The Final will be played on the weekend of the 13/14th September 2025.
The Competition Committee will provide a referee for the Final.
