The sun and wind have inevitably and unavoidably turned the course rock hard in some places and virtually to dust in others. In spite of this, the tees are being gradually improved. The greens, apart from those that are dreadfully damaged, are in better condition than they have been for many years.
My one bone of contention remains the state of the bunkers. I once described them as an embarrassment, and since then they have deteriorated further. I just don’t understand why it’s beyond us to put a couple of inches of sand in each one, enough at least to cover the linings!
